I cannot speak highly enough of Glenn and Alyssa from Adventure Professionals. Their battlefield knowledge, trekking experience and life experiences made the Kokoda Challenge unforgettable.
Dear Glenn & Adventure Professionals Team,
Thank you! Thank you! My trip to Africa and Mt Kilimanjaro far exceeded my hopes and dreams. A life long dream to see Africa and climb Mt Kilimanjaro may have not been realised without the Adventure Professionals team.
Not knowing anything about the adventure holiday industry but knowing I wanted to see Africa and Mt Kilimanjaro one day, by chance I saw a story in our local paper regarding “Alyssa Azar climbing Mt Kilimanjaro” my first reaction was WOW at 14! Thinking one day it could be me, little did I know at that time I would be on the same trip!
From the first information night I attended, I was at ease with your company and felt it would be very safe should I embark on my adventure. Knowing I was sold it was just a matter of convincing my husband and daughters. My first meeting with you in January 2011 when I was filled with nerves, excitement, trepidation and questions, you were happy to answer all my questions; at no stage did I feel pressured to conclude our meeting or to sign up. I was given all the information to make my own decision, which was easily made after our meeting.
My African adventure surpassed my expectations due to the level of service provided by Adventure Professionals. Nothing was left to chance with information provided, training plans, access to your gym, newsletter updates, advice on clothing and equipment, itineraries and even reassurance when required – all this before I left home. Not to mention the updates to family while I was away and receiving messages of congratulations while away.
Arriving in Africa your professional manner continued with a briefing on arrival, again nothing left to chance. From the exceptional Lake Duluti Lodge to the wonderful porters on the mountain, their friendly happy manner made the trek so much easier. The visit to the two schools and the home of a Masai family gave me the snapshot of Africa I was looking for.
You have adeptly named your company Adventure Professionals – true in every respect! So again thank you and should I embark on another adventure holiday it would definitely be with Adventure Professionals.
I wish you continued success in making dreams of Adventure come true.
For me, this has been a life changing event. It has been a goal of mine for many years to immerse myself in Australian Military history through visiting sites of military significance. As a member of the ARA and then ARES I have always prided myself on the importance of understanding what happened in our military history, and how our soldiers fought, lived and contributed to the building of our nation’s identify. Kokoda and the WW2 activities in the Pacific region has been of interest because of how it impacted people that I knew who had fought for Australia. On joining the ADF at 18 years of age, I met and worked with many who had fought in WW2, Vietnam and Korea. Their stories were always of interest in particular how their deployment shaped their attitudes to the younger generation. I have also been fortunate to go to Bougainville on deployment and had a better understanding of what was happening away from home and family for a period of time.
To walk in the footsteps of our soldiers, to see how difficult it was to manoeuvre / traverse / fight in the highlands of PNG and to see this first hand has met that goal. Thank you.
But more than that, was the mateship of this small group of trekkers, ably led by Glenn and Alyssa Azar. The trek allowed us to develop a friendship that will endure and for those on the rehabilitation plan, I hope for them to realise how strong they were for taking on the challenge and completing.
The long walk:
Recently I was privileged to walk the Kokoda Trail thanks to Mates4mates & Adventure Professionals in April 2016 and this is my testimonial.
In April 2016
I walked through historic places that hold stories of great sacrifice, courage and pain,
I walked side by side with the ghosts that defended our nation & I listened to those stories,
I walked with the ancestors of angels that helped those ghosts defend our nation & saw the stories through their eyes,
I walked with modern day heroes who not only defend or have defended our nation recently, but also other nations throughout this world & felt their enduring pain, and
I walked a beautiful mountain range where my black dog does not like to follow and that allowed me to have time on my own to reflect on how wonderful this world is & how fortunate I am to live in it due to those ghosts, angels & modern heroes of the above.
Thank you Mates4mates & Adventure Professionals
