Not Dead Yet
At Adventure Professionals we have recently started using the hashtag – #notdeadyet – in fact we even had t-shirts made with that on it.
What does it mean? #notdeadyet is a simple philosophy on why we do what we do. It’s why we take adventures around the world. It’s the reason we challenge ourselves regularly and it’s the reason we ask you to challenge yourself. Physically, mentally and emotionally.
Look for ways to expand yourself and your sense of what you’re capable of.
We do all of this because we’re alive. We’re not dead yet and as the saying goes ‘Your dead a long time.’
We believe that life is made up of experiences and possibilities. We want to cram as many experiences into our lives as possible and we want to expand what we believe we’re capable of, what the possibilities are. We want the same for you.
Many of us have had friends that have left us way too early. Friends that thought they had tomorrow or the next day or next year to do the things they wanted to. They didn’t have time now but they would get around to it. Then they were gone. We think we owe it to those people to live fully.
Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. So take the time to do the things you always said you wanted to do. Take the time to learn of things you didn’t even know you wanted to do. Take the trip, take the week off, do crazy stuff with fun people, don’t be controlled by the things you own or the money in the bank as much as you’re controlled by being around the people you want, doing stuff you like.
When you get home the world will still be turning and business will still be operating. Yes we like to work hard at what we love. We think it’s imperative to achieving your goals, but don’t forget to travel a little and do cool stuff. These experiences will make you fresher, more inspired, better at your day to day business and work life as well. You need that. Different experiences give you different perspectives.
You’re not dead yet, so don’t act like you are but don’t act like you never will be either.
Join the movement. #notdeadyet and start saying yes to life and yes to yourself. The goal is not to pass through life as quietly and safely as possible. Screw that. The goal should be to see as much of the world as possible, meet people from all different backgrounds, try to make a difference to someone else, challenge yourself, grow, learn, love and experience. When you get to the end, look back and say ‘that was awesome’. I’d do all that again.
I bet you never say that about time spent in the office, crunching numbers, convincing yourself you can’t take a day off or a week off because you’re just too busy.
